5-Day Beach and exploration

Atlantis Bahamas on Paradise Island

Just as the name suggests, the setting was pure paradise. Picture powdery white sand that stays cool beneath your feet, calm turquoise waters that shift with the sunlight, and a serene atmosphere that instantly slows your pace. From sunrise to sunset, the entire coastline feels untouched and breathtaking, creating a backdrop that makes every moment—whether you’re lounging by the shore, enjoying a quiet breakfast, or watching the sky turn pink—feel effortlessly indulgent. It’s the kind of place that reminds you what true relaxation is supposed to feel like.

Things To Do

This isn't an on-the-go vacation, though it can be.  Spending days under an umbrella with sand between your toes, listening to the waves crash is pure serenity. I took daily strolls down the beach but also wandered the expansive Atlantis Resort - many pools, a large casino that rivals Las Vegas, massive waterpark and even a world-class aquarium! Just outside is a nice shopping area in Marina Village where you can drool over beautiful yachts if you want more than just enjoying the beach. I even took an afternoon stroll on Paradise Island and wanted down the Cloisters which were wonderful gardens.

Swim with Pigs on Eleuthera

The resort was fantastic and I wanted to explore the Bahamas a bit more so they set me up with a full-day trip to swim with Pigs on Eleuthera.  Unfortunately, a storm was coming in and the speedboat right over there (about 2.5 hours each way) was very bumpy and we had to turn around.  So I will have to save that adventure for another time! Because of the storm, I took advantage of the wonderful spa!

Nassau

Nassau, the vibrant capital of the Bahamas, blends island charm with centuries of history, colorful architecture, and some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. Spend the day wandering downtown and Bay Street, where pastel buildings, local boutiques, and the lively Straw Market capture the rhythm of everyday Bahamian life. Just uphill, the Queen’s Staircase and Fort Fincastle offer a window into the island’s past along with sweeping harbor views. And if you're traveling with kids, the Pirates of Nassau Museum was fun! Nassau’s cultural side shines through at the National Art Gallery and the historic Graycliff Estate, home to gourmet chocolate, a cigar factory, and one of the world’s largest wine cellars.

Foods of The Bahamas

Discover the vibrant flavors of the Bahamas, where every bite celebrates island life. Taste the iconic conch prepared fresh as fritters, salad, or cracked and lightly fried. Savor rich Bahamian stew fish, melt-in-your-mouth Johnny cakes, and flaky guava duff drizzled with warm rum butter sauce. Don’t miss rock lobster fresh off the grill or a refreshing sky juice—coconut water, condensed milk, and gin—for the perfect island sip. From beachside shacks to local bakeries, Bahamian cuisine is a delicious immersion into the culture and soul of the islands.
